What is it?

Firebase is Google's long-running app backend. It bundles a database that updates live across devices, user sign-in (including Google and Apple accounts), hosting, push notifications and analytics.

It is especially strong for mobile apps and anything that needs to feel instant, like chat or live dashboards. Claude Code can manage a Firebase project through Google's official connection, and Firebase Studio lets you prototype apps in the browser.

Its database is a document store rather than a traditional table-based one, which can make reporting and complex queries awkward later. Costs are usage based and can climb with popular apps.

Who it's for

Teams building mobile apps or anything real-time, and people already living in Google's ecosystem.

  • Sign in with Google or Apple
  • Push notifications
