Slack
Team chat with AI built in: catch-up summaries, answers from your chats and Slackbot.
Quick take
- The team chat app many businesses already use, now with summaries, daily recaps, huddle notes and AI search built in.
- No longer a separate add-on. Pro ($7.25 a user a month billed yearly) gets the basic AI, and Business+ ($15) gets the full set.
- Slackbot is now a personal AI agent that preps meetings and drafts briefs, with usage limits.
- Answers only come from what's in Slack, unless you're on Enterprise+ with enterprise search across other apps.
- An official Slack MCP server lets Claude read channels and post messages.
What is Slack?
Slack is the team chat app where many businesses run their day: channels for each team or project, direct messages, huddles (quick audio and video calls) and shared channels with clients. Its AI is built in. It summarises busy channels and long threads so you can catch up in seconds, writes a daily recap of what happened across your teams, summarises files people share, takes notes in huddles (Slack's audio calls), and translates messages. AI search lets you type a question like "what did we agree with the printer about delivery?" and get an answer built from your team's messages and files.
Slackbot is now a personal AI agent. It knows your workspace and can help you prep for a meeting, analyse a report or draft a project brief in your tone. You can also build Slack workflows from a single prompt, and add other AI agents, like Claude or Salesforce's Agentforce, into channels.
It used to be a paid add-on. Now the AI is included in Slack's paid plans: Pro gets the basics, and Business+ ($15 per user a month, billed yearly) gets the full set. Slackbot has usage limits, and enterprise search across other apps needs Enterprise+. There's an official Slack MCP server, so Claude can read and post in your workspace.
