Quick take

  • Product analytics for apps and SaaS: funnels, retention, cohorts, session replay, A/B tests and feature flags.
  • Free up to 1 million events and 10,000 replays a month, with unlimited seats.
  • Mixpanel Agent and the MCP server work on every plan, so you or Claude can ask questions in your own words.
  • It only knows what you track, so plan your events first. Growth gets pricey past a few million events.

What is Mixpanel?

Mixpanel tracks what people do in your app or website, such as signing up, adding to cart or using a feature, and turns it into reports. Funnels show where people drop out, retention shows who comes back, and cohorts let you compare groups, like customers from Instagram against customers from Google.

Its AI side is strong. Mixpanel Agent answers questions in your own words and builds the report, session replays come with AI summaries, and the MCP server works on every plan, including free, so Claude can pull your numbers into a chat. It also includes A/B testing and feature flags.

The free plan is generous at 1 million events, 10,000 replays and unlimited seats. The catch is setup: Mixpanel only knows what you tell it to track, so someone has to plan and add the tracking code, and pricing climbs quickly once you pass a few million events.
