Runs social media for a team: scheduling, shared inbox, listening and reports.

Sprout Social
Plans social posts, answers comments and reports results for brands and agencies.
Quick take
- The best-liked all-round social tool for teams: scheduling, a shared inbox and reports that clients understand.
- It is expensive and priced per seat. Essentials is $79 a seat a month billed yearly ($99 monthly), Standard $199, Professional $299 and Advanced $399.
- Listening, premium analytics and employee advocacy cost extra and need a sales call to price.
- Essentials and Standard allow only five social profiles, so agencies usually need Professional.
- Watch the renewal date: annual contracts auto-renew and cancellation complaints come up often.
What is Sprout Social?
Sprout Social is a social media management platform. You plan and schedule posts across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, YouTube and Pinterest, answer every comment, message and review from one shared inbox, and build reports clients and managers can read. Higher plans add listening that tracks what people say about your brand and competitors, and an AI assistant called Trellis that answers questions about your data, plus AI help writing posts and replies.
Pick it over Hootsuite when reporting and a tidy shared inbox matter most: its reports are the ones agencies and marketing teams most often praise. Buffer and Later are far cheaper and fine for a solo owner who mostly schedules posts. Brandwatch goes deeper on listening for large brands.
The catch is price. It charges per seat, from $79 a month on the new Essentials plan to $399 on Advanced (billed yearly), and listening and premium analytics are paid add-ons on top. The two cheapest plans cap you at five social profiles. Users also complain about annual contracts that auto-renew with a short cancellation window.
