The best GitHub repos for Claude Code: skills and MCP servers

24 free GitHub repos that give Claude Code new skills and abilities, each with a link and what it does.

On this page

These are the GitHub repos for Claude Code I keep coming back to. They're all free. Each one gives Claude a new skill or a new ability, with a link to the repo and what it does.

A GitHub repo is the public home of a free project, where the code and instructions live. The repos below come in two types. A skill is a set of instructions that teaches Claude how to do one job properly. An MCP server (also called a connector) gives Claude a new ability, like opening a browser or searching the web. Three of the MCPs (Gmail, Higgsfield and Blotato) are hosted by the company that makes them, so they link to its site instead of GitHub.

To install any of them, paste the repo link into Claude Code and ask it to set it up for you. For my top picks with step-by-step install prompts, see the 15 best Claude skills and the 15 best Claude connectors. For the repos blowing up right now, see trending AI GitHub repos.

GitHub repos for Claude skills

Ponytail

URL: github.com/DietrichGebert/ponytail

A set of rules that gets Claude Code to write the least code that does the job. You end up with roughly 55% less code, and it runs 50% cheaper and 27% faster. It still keeps the validation, security and accessibility checks in.

Marketing Skills

URL: github.com/coreyhaines31/marketingskills

Marketing skills for Claude Code and AI agents. They cover CRO (getting more of your visitors to buy or sign up), copywriting, SEO, analytics and growth engineering. It started with around 7 and is now up to 17+, including landing page CRO, email sequences, pricing strategy and social content.

Awesome Claude Skills

URL: github.com/ComposioHQ/awesome-claude-skills

A hand-picked directory of 1000+ ready-to-use Claude skills and plugins for Claude.ai, Claude Code and other coding agents. It includes the "connect-apps" plugin (built on Composio), which lets Claude do things like send emails, create issues and post to Slack across 1000+ connected apps.

Banana Claude

URL: github.com/AgriciDaniel/banana-claude

Turns Claude into a creative director for image generation with Google's Gemini "Nano Banana" models. It works out what you're after, picks the right specialty (product, portrait, logo, UI and more) and builds an optimised prompt with a 5-component formula. Text-to-image, editing, batch workflows and brand presets are all covered.

Remotion

URL: github.com/remotion-dev/remotion

Remotion lets you make videos with code. It's an open-source tool built on React. It now comes with official skills, so Claude Code and other coding agents can build Remotion videos that get the timing, media and composition right.

Context Engineering

URL: github.com/coleam00/context-engineering-intro

A template for Claude Code that gives it the full picture before it starts building (that's the "context engineering" part). It's built around PRPs (Product Requirements Prompts), a written brief for each feature. You set up project rules and code examples, then Claude writes a PRP and builds from it. Because it has full context up front, it gets features right with less back and forth.

Stop Slop

URL: github.com/hardikpandya/stop-slop

One of my favourites on this list. It teaches Claude to catch and cut predictable AI writing patterns, banned phrases and structural clichés. And yes, it gets rid of all those em dashes too.

Skill Seekers

URL: github.com/yusufkaraaslan/Skill_Seekers

Point it at any of 18+ source types (documentation sites, GitHub repos, PDFs, videos, Word/EPUB/AsciiDoc docs, Jupyter notebooks, OpenAPI specs, wikis and more) and it turns them into structured AI skills. You can export those to Claude, LangChain, Cursor and 20+ other platforms.

Last 30 Days

URL: github.com/mvanhorn/last30days-skill

Researches a topic across Reddit, X, YouTube, Hacker News, Polymarket, GitHub and the web, then scores what it finds by real engagement (upvotes, likes, betting odds). You get back a cited summary of what's happening right now.

Impeccable

URL: github.com/pbakaus/impeccable

A design skill that gives Claude (and other coding agents) a set of design rules to follow, so the websites and UI it builds don't look like generic AI slop. It has 20+ commands (polish, audit, critique, animate and more). It also has dozens of checks for typography, colour, layout and interaction states (how buttons and links look when you hover or click).

Awesome Agent Skills

URL: github.com/VoltAgent/awesome-agent-skills

Over 1000 agent skills from official dev teams (Anthropic, Google, Vercel, Stripe, Cloudflare, Hugging Face and more), plus community-built ones. They work with Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other agents.

Prompt Master

URL: github.com/nidhinjs/prompt-master

Writes tool-specific prompts for 20+ AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Midjourney and more). It breaks down what you're asking for across 9 dimensions of intent and remembers the context as you go. You get the right output first go and don't burn tokens (your usage allowance) asking again.

Hallmark

URL: github.com/nutlope/hallmark

Another anti-AI-slop design skill for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex, this one aimed at websites and UI (it doesn't do presentations). It picks a distinct page structure and theme, then runs dozens of "slop test" checks on typography, colour, layout and motion so your pages look designed on purpose.

I have ADHD

URL: github.com/ayghri/i-have-adhd

AI assistants love to waffle, so you read three paragraphs before you find out what to type. These rules make yours lead with the action, number the steps and skip the "great question" and "hope this helps" padding.

GitHub repos for MCP servers

Perplexity MCP

URL: github.com/perplexityai/modelcontextprotocol

Perplexity's official MCP server. Claude can search the web in real time through the Perplexity API and come back with current, cited information.

Gmail MCP Server

URL: developers.google.com/workspace/gmail

Google's official Gmail MCP server, currently in Developer Preview. Claude can create and manage drafts, search threads and add or remove labels in your Gmail account. Right now it can't send emails, handle attachments or delete messages, so check those before you rely on it for full inbox automation.

Chrome DevTools MCP

URL: github.com/ChromeDevTools/chrome-devtools-mcp (also listed on mcpservers.org if you want to browse alternatives)

With this one Claude can see and use anything inside Google Chrome in real time. It can even inspect a page's code (the DOM) and how fast it loads. That means it can run whole tasks for you in your open browser.

Browserbase MCP

URL: github.com/browserbase/mcp-server-browserbase

Lets Claude browse the web in a headless browser (one that runs in the cloud with no window you need to watch). That way it can collect data from websites and research further than it can on its own.

Higgsfield MCP

URL: higgsfield.ai/mcp

Claude can generate images and videos with Higgsfield's models without you leaving your workflow.

Firecrawl MCP

URL: github.com/firecrawl/firecrawl-mcp-server

Lets Claude read and collect information from any website. It can scrape a single page, crawl a whole site, read its sitemap and pull out structured data. Any website comes back as clean markdown or JSON (tidy text Claude can work with).

NotebookLM MCP

URL: github.com/PleasePrompto/notebooklm-mcp

A community-built MCP server (unofficial, so not made by Google) that connects Claude to Google NotebookLM through browser automation. Claude can then ask questions answered only from your own uploaded notebooks, with citations.

Playwright MCP

URL: github.com/microsoft/playwright-mcp

Microsoft's official MCP server for browser automation with Playwright. Claude can open pages, click, type and take screenshots. It reads each page through an accessibility snapshot, a structured outline much like the one a screen reader uses. Handy for testing your site and for web tasks with several steps.

Context7

URL: github.com/upstash/context7

Upstash's MCP server pulls current, version-specific documentation and code examples for almost any library (a ready-made code package) straight into Claude. Claude stops guessing at outdated APIs, and the code it writes matches the version you're using.

Blotato MCP

URL: blotato.com/mcp

A hosted social media MCP server. Claude can publish, schedule and analyse content across 9 platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest) through each platform's official API. It handles Instagram and Facebook comments and DMs too. You connect it with a single link, and there's nothing to install on your computer.

Enjoy :)
