Chrome DevTools MCP

Lets Claude inspect a live Chrome tab to find slow pages, errors and network faults.

What is it?

Chrome DevTools is the inspector built into Google's browser. This official server lets Claude drive it, so it can open your page, measure how slow it is, read the errors in the console and tell you what to fix.

Playwright is better for testing flows; this one is better for diagnosing why a page is slow or broken. Many people run both. It needs Chrome installed, and sends anonymous usage data unless you turn that off.

What Claude can do once it's connected

  • Record a performance trace and explain what makes a page slow
  • Read console errors and failed network requests
  • Take screenshots and snapshots of a page
  • Click, type and navigate like a user
  • Check Core Web Vitals before you ship

Install in Claude Code

Open your terminal in the project folder and run:

Command
claude mcp add chrome-devtools -- npx -y chrome-devtools-mcp@latest

Who it's for

Anyone chasing page-speed scores or mysterious front-end errors.

Best for

  • Page speed audits
  • Finding console errors
  • Debugging layout problems

Why it made the list

It is the only connector that gives Claude the same performance tooling a senior front-end developer uses.
