Everyone tells you to install Claude connectors, but most people have no idea which ones to use. These are the 15 I'd set up first. For each one you get what it does, the jobs it's best for, a prompt to try and how to add it.
A connector (also called an MCP) is a link between Claude and another app. Once it's connected, Claude can use that app for you, so you can post to Instagram or pull your ad results right from the chat.

How to add a connector
There are three ways in. Each connector below tells you which one to use.
1. From the directory (easiest). In the Claude app, open Customize, then Connectors, and browse. Find the one you want, click to add it and sign in to that app. Notion, Canva, Gmail, Firecrawl, Apify and ElevenLabs are all in there.
2. As a custom connector. Some connectors aren't in the directory yet, but you can still add them with a link. In the Claude app, open Customize, then Connectors. Click Add, choose Custom, then Web. Give it a name, paste the connector's URL and click Connect, then sign in. On the free Claude plan you can add one custom connector. Paid plans can add more.
3. In Claude Code. Some connectors run on your own computer, so they only work in Claude Code. For those, paste the prompt I've given into Claude Code and it sets everything up. Then type /mcp to check it's connected.
Anything you add in the Claude app also shows up in Claude Code, as long as you're signed in to Claude Code with the same account. So set up the directory and custom connectors once, in the app.
My three daily connectors
Firecrawl
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: free credits when you sign up, then paid plans
Firecrawl lets Claude read any website and pull real-time data from it. The best part is Alexandria, its library of 400+ data sources (423 when I checked). Claude can tap into Shopify for product data, Apollo for data on people, Similarweb for website traffic and plenty more.
That means you can research almost any company from one chat. Claude can check their website traffic in Similarweb, look up their Meta ads through Upspring and find staff by job title in Apollo, including verified work emails where Apollo has them. It can also search Alibaba for factories that make similar products. That's handy for sourcing, but it won't tell you exactly which factory a brand uses.
Each data source uses Firecrawl credits, and Alexandria only works once you've signed in with a Firecrawl account.
Best for: competitor research, finding leads, product and price research, reading a whole website in one go.
Try asking: "Use Firecrawl to research gymshark.com. Show me their website traffic, the Meta ads they're running, and five people in their marketing team with their work emails."
How to add it: it's in the directory. In the Claude app, open Customize, then Connectors, search for Firecrawl and sign in. If you only use Claude Code, paste this instead:
Add the Firecrawl MCP server to Claude Code for all my projects by running: claude mcp add --scope user --transport http firecrawl https://mcp.firecrawl.dev/v2/mcp-oauth
Then tell me how to sign in with /mcp.Blotato
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: needs a paid Blotato plan
Blotato gives Claude access to your social media accounts across nine platforms: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest. Claude can write a post, make the graphic and schedule it everywhere in one go.
It can also turn your content into new posts. Give it a YouTube video, an article or a PDF and Claude pulls out the key points to post. It makes carousels, quote cards and infographics from Blotato's templates. It can even post Instagram trial reels on a schedule. Those are reels shown to people who don't follow you yet, so you can test an idea before your followers see it.
It reads your results back too. Ask "which posts did best this month?" and plan next week around the answer. It can also reply to Instagram and Facebook comments and DMs.
Best for: scheduling posts, turning one video into posts for every platform, carousels, testing reels with trial reels.
Try asking: "Turn my latest YouTube video into a LinkedIn post, an X thread and an Instagram carousel, then schedule them for this week."
How to add it: add it as a custom connector with this URL, then sign in with your Blotato account.
https://mcp.blotato.com/mcpConnecting it during your Blotato free trial ends the trial and starts your paid plan.
Hyperframes
Works in: Claude Code · Cost: free
Hyperframes lets Claude create motion graphics for your projects and videos. Describe what you want, like a product intro, animated captions, a chart that builds itself or a title card. Claude designs it and renders it as an MP4 you can drop into your edit.
It comes from HeyGen, the AI avatar company, and it's free and open source. Strictly speaking it's a Claude Code plugin, so it installs a little differently from the others. It has ready-made workflows for product launch videos, explainers, captions for talking-head videos and slideshows. Videos render on your own computer, so there are no per-video fees.
Best for: motion graphics for your videos, product launch videos, animated captions, quick social promos.
Try asking: "Using Hyperframes, make a 10-second intro for my business with a fade-in title and subtle background music."
How to add it: paste this into Claude Code.
https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes
Install Hyperframes as a Claude Code plugin (claude plugin marketplace add heygen-com/hyperframes, then claude plugin install hyperframes@hyperframes). Check I have Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg first, and install them if I don't. Then tell me when to restart Claude Code.FFmpeg is a free tool that handles video files. Hyperframes needs it to export your finished videos.
Images, video and voice
Higgsfield
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: needs a paid Higgsfield plan, and each generation uses credits
Higgsfield puts the best image and video models inside Claude, including Nano Banana, Seedance, Veo and Kling. You describe the shot and get the image or video back in the chat.
It edits too. Claude can upscale, remove backgrounds, extend an image past its edges and add voice and dubbing. Its marketing studio makes ads, product shots and UGC-style clips (videos that look filmed by a customer).
There's no spending limit built in, so ask Claude to show you the plan and wait for your OK before each generation.
Best for: short-form video, ad creative, product shots, thumbnails.
Try asking: "Make a 5-second video of my product on a marble bench in soft morning light. Show me the plan and the credit cost before you start."
How to add it: add it as a custom connector with this URL, then sign in with your Higgsfield account.
https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcpNano Banana
Works in: Claude Code · Cost: the connector is free, and each image is billed to your Gemini API key
Nano Banana is Google's image model. It's great at editing photos and keeping a character or product looking the same across images. This connector gives Claude direct access to it, so you can make and tweak images without leaving Claude.
It's the cheapest way to get Nano Banana into Claude, because you only pay for the images you make. If you also want video models, Higgsfield has Nano Banana built in.
Best for: thumbnails, social images, product photo edits, blog images.
Try asking: "Make a YouTube thumbnail of a laptop on a desk with the words 'AI for business' in bold yellow, then save it to my Desktop."
How to add it: get a Gemini API key from Google AI Studio first. An API key is a code that links the connector to your Google account. Then paste this into Claude Code:
Add the Nano Banana MCP server to Claude Code for all my projects by running: claude mcp add --scope user --env GEMINI_API_KEY=YOUR_API_KEY nano-banana -- npx -y nano-banana-mcp
Ask me for my Gemini API key first and put it in place of YOUR_API_KEY. Check I have Node.js installed, and install it if I don't.Canva
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: free, some features need Canva Pro or AI credits
Canva's own connector lets Claude create and edit designs in your Canva account. Ask for "a square version of last week's promo for Instagram" and it's done.
The best bit is bulk designs. Give it a list of products or events and it fills your brand template with each one. Brand templates need a paid Canva plan.
Best for: social graphics, resizing designs for each platform, designs in bulk, exporting files.
Try asking: "Find my latest Instagram post design in Canva and make a Story version and a LinkedIn version of it."
How to add it: it's in the directory. Open Customize, then Connectors, search for Canva and sign in.
ElevenLabs
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: free monthly credits, paid plans for more
ElevenLabs makes some of the most lifelike AI voices around. Its connector lets Claude turn a script into a voiceover and hand you the audio file. Pair it with Hyperframes and Claude can make the visuals and the voice for a whole video.
It also builds voice agents. These are AI assistants that answer your phone or chat on your website. Claude can set one up, give it your business info and read back its conversations. Changes to an agent go live straight away, so test on a copy first.
Best for: voiceovers for videos and ads, narrating scripts, AI receptionists, support agents.
Try asking: "Turn this script into a voiceover with a friendly Australian voice and give me the audio file."
How to add it: it's in the directory. Open Customize, then Connectors, search for ElevenLabs and sign in.
Ads, SEO and research
Meta Ads
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: free (you pay Meta for the ads)
This is Meta's official connector for Ads Manager. Claude can report on your Facebook and Instagram campaigns, explain what changed and set up new campaigns, ad sets and ads. It can check your product catalogue too.
When you sign in, you pick which business portfolios Claude can see. If you manage a few, start with one.
Be careful with changes. It can edit live budgets and campaigns, and there's no undo. Keep Claude asking for approval before every change.
Best for: weekly ad reports, spotting tired ads, setting up campaigns, catalogue checks.
Try asking: "Show my top 5 campaigns by spend over the last 7 days, with cost per purchase, and tell me which ads are getting tired."
How to add it: add it as a custom connector with this URL, then sign in with Facebook.
https://mcp.facebook.com/adsDataForSEO
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: pay per request, with no monthly fee
DataForSEO sells the data behind lots of SEO tools: Google rankings, keyword volumes, backlinks (other sites that link to yours) and page audits. This connector gives Claude all of it. Ask "what does my competitor rank for that I don't?" and you get real numbers back.
It can also check how often ChatGPT and other AI tools mention your brand. You pay a small amount per request instead of a big monthly plan.
Best for: keyword research, finding gaps in your content, backlink checks, tracking your rankings.
Try asking: "Find 20 keywords my competitor ranks for in Australia that I don't, sorted by search volume."
How to add it: add it as a custom connector with this URL, then sign in with your DataForSEO account.
https://mcp.dataforseo.com/mcpApify
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: free plan with monthly credits, paid plans for more
Apify has thousands of ready-made scrapers (tools that copy data off websites). This connector lets Claude pick the right one, run it and bring back the data. It handles the sites that are hard to scrape, like Instagram, TikTok, Google Maps and Amazon.
The free credits go a long way for small jobs. Some scrapers charge per result, so ask Claude to check the price before a big run.
Best for: lead lists from Google Maps, social media research, competitor pricing, spotting trends.
Try asking: "Find every cafe in Fitzroy on Google Maps with a rating over 4.5 and put them in a table with their phone numbers and websites."
How to add it: it's in the directory. Open Customize, then Connectors, search for Apify and sign in.
Let Claude use a browser
Playwright
Works in: Claude Code · Cost: free
Playwright is Microsoft's tool for controlling a web browser. This connector hands that browser to Claude. It can open your site, click through the checkout, fill in forms, spot a broken button and take screenshots. It's the most popular connector in my MCP library.
It's great after Claude builds something, because Claude can open it and check its own work.
Best for: testing your website, checking pages on phone and desktop, filling in forms, reading pages that need a real browser.
Try asking: "Open my website, go through the contact form like a customer would and tell me if anything breaks."
How to add it: paste this into Claude Code.
Add the Playwright MCP server to Claude Code for all my projects by running: claude mcp add --scope user playwright -- npx @playwright/mcp@latest
Check I have Node.js installed first, and install it if I don't.Chrome DevTools
Works in: Claude Code · Cost: free
Chrome DevTools is the inspector built into Google Chrome. This official connector from Google lets Claude use it. It can measure how fast your page loads, read the errors and tell you what to fix.
Playwright is better for clicking through your site. Chrome DevTools is better for working out why a page is slow or broken. Lots of people run both.
Best for: page speed checks, finding errors, fixing layout problems.
Try asking: "Check how fast my home page loads on a phone and give me the three fixes that would speed it up most."
How to add it: paste this into Claude Code. You need Google Chrome installed.
Add the Chrome DevTools MCP server to Claude Code for all my projects by running: claude mcp add --scope user chrome-devtools -- npx -y chrome-devtools-mcp@latest
Check I have Node.js installed first, and install it if I don't.Email and notes
Gmail
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: free
Claude's own Gmail connector lets it search your inbox, read whole threads, write drafts and sort mail with labels. It's great for "what did the landlord say about the bond?" or "draft replies to every unanswered client email from this week".
While you're in the directory, add Google Calendar and Google Drive too. Then Claude can book meetings and find your files as well.
Best for: drafting replies, finding old emails, cleaning up your inbox, pulling dates and order numbers out of emails.
Try asking: "Find every email from clients I haven't replied to this week and write a draft reply to each one."
How to add it: it's in the directory. Open Customize, then Connectors, choose Gmail and sign in with Google. This one has to be connected in the Claude app. It then works in Claude Code too.
Notion
Works in: Claude app and Claude Code · Cost: free
If your business runs on Notion, this one's a no-brainer. Notion's own connector lets Claude search your workspace, read pages and databases, and create or update pages. Your meeting notes can become tasks, and your research can land on the right page.
Best for: turning meeting notes into tasks, updating a content calendar, writing docs from a brief, answering questions from your wiki.
Try asking: "Read my meeting notes from today and add each action item to my Tasks database with an owner and due date."
How to add it: it's in the directory. Open Customize, then Connectors, search for Notion and sign in. You choose which pages Claude can see.
Obsidian
Works in: Claude Code · Cost: free
If your notes live in Obsidian, this connector lets Claude work with them. Ask it to pull together everything you've written on a topic, add today's meeting notes under the right heading or tidy up tags across a folder.
It works through the free Local REST API plugin for Obsidian, so Obsidian needs to be open with that plugin turned on. It can delete notes without asking, so start in read-only mode until you trust it.
Best for: searching your notes, writing up meeting notes, daily journaling, organising a second brain.
Try asking: "Search my Obsidian vault for everything I've written about pricing and sum it up in one page."
How to add it: in Obsidian, install and turn on the Local REST API community plugin, then copy the API key from its settings. Then paste this into Claude Code:
Add the Obsidian MCP server to Claude Code for all my projects by running: claude mcp add --scope user obsidian -e OBSIDIAN_API_KEY=YOUR_API_KEY -e OBSIDIAN_BASE_URL=https://127.0.0.1:27124 -e OBSIDIAN_READ_ONLY=true -- npx -y obsidian-mcp-server@latest
Ask me for my Local REST API key first and put it in place of YOUR_API_KEY. It starts in read-only mode. Tell me how to turn that off later if I want Claude to edit my notes.Which ones to start with
Don't install all 15 on day one. Start with the three or four that match your work, then add more when you need them.
- Social media managers and creators: Blotato, Hyperframes, Higgsfield, Canva and ElevenLabs.
- Paid ads and ecommerce: Meta Ads, Firecrawl and Apify.
- SEO and websites: DataForSEO, Firecrawl, Playwright and Chrome DevTools.
- Running a business: Gmail, Notion and Obsidian.
Staying safe with connectors
Only add connectors from companies you trust. Directory connectors have been through Anthropic's review. Custom connectors haven't.
Keep Claude asking before it acts. When it wants to post, send an email or change an ad budget, read what it's about to do before you click allow. That matters most for Meta Ads and Blotato, because those changes go live straight away.
Watch your credits. Firecrawl, Higgsfield, Apify, DataForSEO and ElevenLabs all charge per use. Ask Claude to show the plan and the cost before a big job.
FAQ
What's the difference between a connector and an MCP?
They're the same thing. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard that lets Claude talk to other apps. Claude's app calls them connectors. Claude Code and most developers call them MCPs or MCP servers.
Do I need a paid Claude plan?
You can start on the free plan, but it only lets you add one custom connector. If you want several, like Blotato, Higgsfield and Meta Ads together, you'll need Pro or above. Claude Code also needs a paid plan.
Why can't I find Blotato or Higgsfield in the directory?
Not every connector is listed yet. Add them as a custom connector with the URL from this guide. They work the same way once they're in.
Can I use Playwright or Obsidian in the Claude app?
Not on the web. They run on your own computer, so the easiest way to use them is Claude Code. You can also use Claude Code inside the Claude desktop app.
I'm on a Team or Enterprise plan and can't add connectors
On those plans, a workspace owner has to add each connector first. Send them the link or the URL from this guide.
Claude isn't using my connector
Check it's switched on in the connectors menu for that chat. You can also name it in your prompt, like "use Firecrawl to…". If it still fails, remove it and add it again to sign back in.
More connectors
These 15 are where I'd start. My MCP library has every connector I rate, with what each one does and how to install it, and it shows which ones are trending right now.
