Turn phone snaps into clean product photos with new backgrounds, a whole batch at once.
Quick take
Photoroom takes a product photo from your phone, cuts the product out and puts it on a clean white background or a generated scene, with shadows and lighting that match. It can do this to hundreds of photos at once in Batch mode, put clothing on an AI model, and push finished images straight into a Shopify store. Resellers, Etsy and eBay sellers and small online shops are its core users.
Pick it over Canva when product photos are the job. Canva can remove a background, but Photoroom is built around a catalogue: same background, same size and same shadow across every listing, done in one pass. For a one-off social post with a product in it, Canva is still the simpler choice.
The catch is the plan rules. Photoroom has changed its limits several times since late 2025, capping monthly exports, moving AI features onto credits and dropping the free plan from its pricing page. Long-time sellers on Reddit also complain that frequent app updates keep moving or removing batch features they relied on.
Online sellers and small e-commerce brands who need lots of consistent product photos without a studio.

Applies the same background, size and shadow to a whole set of photos at once, then exports them together.

Puts clothing from a flat lay or hanger shot onto a model you choose, with ghost mannequin as another option.

Which plan should you pick?
Pro on yearly billing is cheap and covers most sellers listing up to about 1,000 images a month. Count your monthly exports first, because the jump to Max is steep. Max only earns its price if you need the Shopify sync or video.

Lifestyle shots without a shoot
Take one clean product photo and generate a few styled scenes for your product page, ads and social posts.
Clothing without a model
Turn flat lays of garments into on-model images so shoppers can see the fit.
Keep a Shopify catalogue consistent

Automate it
Use the API or MCP to process new product photos as they arrive, without opening the app.
