ChatGPT Images is OpenAI's image generator, powered by the gpt-image-2 model. You describe a picture in the same chat where you do everything else, and it draws it, then edits it as you talk: change the background, swap the colours, put our logo on the cup.
Its standout skill is text. Posters, labels, signage, product mockups and social tiles come out with legible, correctly spelled words in many languages, which is where most other generators fall apart. A 'Thinking' mode plans the image before drawing it, and it handles multiple reference images well.
It is slower than dedicated generators and the free plan caps how many you can make. For a particular illustrated style or fine artistic control, Midjourney and Ideogram still have an edge.
