What is it?

Search Console is Google telling you, directly, which searches bring people to your site, which pages Google has indexed, and what's broken. It's free and it's the only source of this data that isn't an estimate.

Check it weekly for the queries you're gaining or losing, pages that have dropped out of the index, and whether your site appears in AI Overviews and AI Mode. It has an official data interface, so Claude Code can pull your search performance into a report or a spreadsheet.

It only covers your own site, and the data lags by a day or two. For competitor research you'll need Ahrefs or Semrush.
