ChatGPT is the assistant that made AI mainstream. Ask it anything, upload files, generate images, talk to it by voice or have it search the web for you.
Its strength is breadth. It does a reasonable job of almost everything, and the ecosystem of custom GPTs, connectors and built-in tools is the largest around. If you only ever want to learn one assistant, this is the safe choice.
The flip side of breadth is that it can feel generic for serious writing, and the newest features often land on the paid plans first.
