Quick take

  • The quickest route to a chatbot on your website that answers from your own pages and documents.
  • Hobby is $32 a month billed yearly ($40 monthly) for 700 message credits. Standard is $120 yearly ($150 monthly) for 4,000.
  • Credits per reply depend on the AI model, so costs are harder to predict than they look. Run the 7-day trial with real traffic.
  • It's a chatbot, not a helpdesk. If you need ticketing and a team inbox, look at Intercom or Hiver.

What is Chatbase?

Chatbase lets you build an AI support agent without code. Point it at your website, upload PDFs and documents, or paste in text, and it builds a chatbot that answers questions from that material. You add it to your site with a snippet of code, or connect it to WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Slack. It can collect leads, hand a chat to a person, and run simple actions such as booking a meeting or looking up an order once you connect the tools.

Pick Chatbase when you want a decent AI chatbot live on your site in an afternoon and don't need a full helpdesk. Intercom and Zendesk give you inbox, ticketing and reporting as well, at a much higher price. Ada and Sierra are for large companies. Lindy or a custom build suits people who want the bot to do more complex work.

The catch: pricing is based on message credits, and different AI models use different numbers of credits per reply, so busy months can run out early. When credits run out the bot stops answering unless you pay for top-ups ($40 per 1,000). Removing the "Powered by Chatbase" badge costs extra. Users also report weak billing and support responses.
