Adobe Acrobat AI Assistant
Ask questions of your PDFs in Acrobat and get summaries that link to the source.
Quick take
- Ask a PDF a question and get an answer that links to the exact sentence, so you can check it.
- PDF Spaces let you ask questions across up to 100 files and links at once, and share them with your team.
- AI Assistant comes with Acrobat Express ($9.99/mo) and Acrobat Studio ($24.99/mo) on yearly plans. Plain Acrobat Pro doesn't include it.
- Adobe's yearly plans charge half the remaining year if you cancel after 14 days.
- If you don't need to edit or sign PDFs, NotebookLM or Claude cover most of the same ground for less.
What is Adobe Acrobat AI Assistant?
Acrobat AI Assistant is Adobe's AI built into Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. Open a PDF and ask it questions in your own words, such as "what's the notice period in this lease?", and it answers with links to the exact spot in the document. It writes summaries, pulls out key points, helps draft emails or reports from what you've read, and works on Word, PowerPoint and text files as well as PDFs.
PDF Spaces let you gather up to 100 files and links in one place and ask questions across all of them, share the space with others, and set up assistants with a particular role, such as an analyst. Acrobat Studio can also turn documents into a podcast-style audio summary, interactive reports and presentations made with Adobe Express.
The catch: the AI isn't in the standard Acrobat Pro plan. You need Acrobat Express, Acrobat Studio or a paid add-on, and Adobe's yearly plans charge a fee if you cancel early. Free tools like NotebookLM and Claude do a lot of the same document Q&A if you don't need Acrobat's editing and signing.
