Abridge records the conversation between a clinician and patient and writes the clinical note, plus orders and a patient summary, straight into the electronic health record. It is built for hospitals and health systems rather than single clinics: it runs inside Epic, links each line of the note back to the moment in the conversation it came from, and now covers nursing documentation, inpatient care and pre-bill coding review. More than 300 US health systems use it, including Kaiser Permanente, Johns Hopkins and Duke Health.

Choose Abridge when a health system is buying one scribe for thousands of clinicians and needs it inside Epic with central governance. Its main rival there is Microsoft's Dragon Copilot (formerly DAX Copilot). For a solo GP, physio or small practice, Heidi is the practical choice because you can sign up yourself and start free.
