Virtual Staging AI

Adds furniture to photos of empty rooms so property listings look lived in.

4.4our rating
PaidFrom $16/mo

Quick take

  • Upload, pick a room type and style, and you have a staged photo in about ten seconds. No prompts to write.
  • Plans start at $16 a month for 6 photos and drop to roughly 50 to 65 cents a photo on the larger plans.
  • Results are good enough for most listings, but check every image for furniture that looks the wrong size or badly lit.
  • There is no free plan, but you can stage one photo free without signing up to see the quality first.
  • Label staged photos on your listings. Regulators and portals are paying more attention to misleading AI images.

What is Virtual Staging AI?

Virtual Staging AI takes a photo of an empty or half-empty room and fills it with furniture in a style you choose, such as modern, Scandinavian, coastal or farmhouse. You upload the photo, pick the room type and style, and get a staged image back in about ten seconds. It can also clear out existing furniture first, then restage the room. It was built out of the Harvard Innovation Lab and sells mainly to real estate agents and property photographers.

Pick it over a general image tool like ChatGPT Images, Nano Banana or Photoroom when you stage listings every week and want a fixed, simple workflow: same styles, no prompting, no watermark, and a per-photo cost under a dollar on the bigger plans. A traditional staging service like BoxBrownie uses human editors and takes a day or two; this is instant and much cheaper, but you lose the human check.

The catch: AI staging can get scale and lighting wrong, so a sofa can look too big for the room or pasted on. Every image needs a human eye before it goes on a listing, and you should label staged photos so buyers and renters are not misled. Plans renew automatically, so check the cancellation terms when you sign up.

Which plan should you pick?

Standard is the sweet spot: three dollars more than Basic gets you more than three times the photos. Move to Professional or Enterprise only if you stage several listings a week. The vendor says yearly billing saves more, so check both options at checkout.

Prices in USD unless noted, checked 22 October 2026. Vendors change plans often, so confirm on their site before you buy.

Best use cases

Ways Virtual Staging AI can slot into your week.

  1. 1

    Stage a vacant listing

Shoot the empty home, stage the living room, main bedroom and dining area, and use the staged shots as the hero images on the listing.

  2. 2

Show two styles to a buyer

Stage the same room in coastal and modern so buyers can picture it to their own taste.

  3. 3

    Fix a tenanted property

Remove the current tenant's furniture from the photos and restage the rooms neatly before a relist.

  4. 4

Offer staging as a photography add-on

Listing photographers can sell staged versions of their shots for a small extra fee per image.

How it fits your tech stack

It sits between your photographer and your listing portal. Download the staged images and upload them to your CRM, portal or Canva templates as usual.
