Quick take

  • Only makes sense if you already run Salesforce. Its strength is acting on your real CRM records, cases and permissions.
  • Pricing is a maze: $2 per conversation, prepaid Flex Credits ($500 per 100,000), or $125 per user a month add-ons, with the top Agentforce 1 editions from $550 per user a month.
  • Plan for setup time and probably a Salesforce partner. Reviewers say getting agents reliable takes testing, clean data and good knowledge articles.
  • Usage costs can climb fast once more teams and workflows use it, so set budgets and watch consumption from day one.
  • Not on Salesforce? Look at Intercom, Zendesk or HubSpot's AI first. They are faster and cheaper to start.

What is Salesforce Agentforce?

Agentforce is Salesforce's platform for AI agents that work on top of your Salesforce data. You set up agents with plain-language instructions, give them topics and actions (look up an order, update a case, book a meeting), and they work in your website chat, email, Slack or inside the Salesforce screens your staff already use. There are ready-made agents for service, sales development, sales coaching and field service, plus a builder for your own.

Pick it if your business already runs on Salesforce Sales Cloud or Service Cloud: the agents can read and act on your real records, permissions and workflows, which a bolt-on chatbot cannot. If you are not on Salesforce, a support tool like Intercom or Zendesk, or HubSpot's built-in AI, is far quicker to stand up.

The catch is cost and setup. Pricing mixes per-user add-ons, per-conversation fees and prepaid credits, and you cannot mix some of these in one org, so forecasting the bill is hard. Most businesses need a Salesforce admin or partner to get agents behaving reliably, and the agents are only as good as the data and knowledge articles you feed them.
