Luma AI

AI video studio with creative agents, Luma's Ray3.2 model and Veo, Kling and Seedance.

PaidFrom $30/moWorks with Claude Code

Quick take

  • Dream Machine is gone. Luma is now an agent workspace that uses its own Ray3.2 model plus Veo, Kling and Seedance.
  • No free plan. Plus at $30 a month is the entry point, and 10,000 credits is about 25 five-second 1080p clips.
  • The agent bills credits while it plans and asks questions, and it doesn't warn you before it spends. Check your usage page.
  • Best for teams adapting campaigns across formats. For simple clips, Kling or Veo cost less.

What is Luma AI?

Luma started as Dream Machine, a simple text-to-video app. In 2026 it became a creative workspace where Luma Agents take a brief and plan, generate and refine images, video and sound for you. It runs Luma's own Ray3.2 video model and Uni-1 image model, plus Veo, Kling, Seedance and ElevenLabs, all paid for from one pool of credits. Luma retired the Dream Machine name in July 2026, though the iPhone app still uses it.

Ray3.2 is built for production teams: up to 16 keyframes, 20-second clips at 1080p, reframing to any aspect ratio, editing existing footage, and HDR output that colourists can grade. Pick Luma over Runway if you want an agent to run a whole campaign brief across several models. Pick Runway if you mostly edit footage, or Kling if you just want good clips cheaply.

The catch is cost. There's no free plan anymore, entry is $30 a month, and the agent spends credits while it thinks, with no warning of what a job will cost.

Which plan should you pick?

Start on Plus for a month and watch the usage page closely, especially when the agent is working. Only move up to Pro once you know which models and workflows you'll use, because Veo clips cost about three times as much as Ray3.2.
