Which plan to pickIf you already pay for Claude, you have it. Try it on Free first, and move to Pro once you're making more than the odd document, because decks use up a Free allowance fast. Team makes sense when colleagues need to open and comment on the same documents.Use the free credits to make two or three decks and judge the output. If you'll keep using it, Plus is the sensible step because it removes the badge and refreshes credits monthly. Only move to Pro if you want the API, custom domains or viewer analytics.Business Standard is the plan to be on. Starter is cheap but leaves out Gemini in Docs, Sheets and Slides, which is the whole point. Only move to Plus if you need Vault or the extra storage, not for the AI.

Pros and cons

AttributeClaude Docs & SlidesGammaGemini in Google Workspace
Pros

  • The document or deck comes out of the same chat that did the research
  • Edit directly or by asking, without copying text into another app
  • Exports to the formats clients and colleagues already use
  • Report and deck stay consistent because they come from one conversation
  • Fastest route from notes to a presentable deck
  • Designs look polished without any design skill
  • One file works as a deck, document or web page
  • The agent makes rewrites and restyles painless
  • API and connectors mean it fits into automated workflows
  • Already inside the apps your team opens every day
  • Answers from your own files, email and calendar
  • Bundled into the Workspace price rather than a separate bill
  • Sheets help is genuinely useful for non-technical people
  • Includes the Gemini app and NotebookLM
Cons
  • No brand templates in Slides, so decks look generic next to Claude Design or Gamma
  • Rewriting a long doc eats your Claude usage limits quickly, especially on Free and Pro
  • Rough edges on complex formatting, and co-editing and version history are lighter than Google Docs
  • Decks are starting to look recognisably "made by Claude" to clients
  • Sometimes makes a Claude Doc when you wanted a plain Word file, and docs don't flow back into Project knowledge
  • Free credits are a one-off, so the free plan runs out
  • Hard to keep strictly on brand across many decks
  • Credits drain quickly if you regenerate images often
  • Exports to PowerPoint don't always keep the layout intact
  • Business Starter leaves out the Docs, Sheets and Slides features
  • Slide designs are plain and need a human tidy
  • Writing quality is behind Claude and needs more editing
  • Features and limits change often and vary by plan, which is confusing
