API (pay as you go)

Usage based

Teams who want to pay only for what they use.

Which plan to pickStart on Pro. It is enough to build a small site or tool in evenings and weekends. If you hit the limit most days, Max 5x is the next step; it costs five times as much but usually works out cheaper than paying for the API directly. Max also lets you spend up to half your weekly limit on Fable, which Pro only gets through paid credits.Start on the free Individual tier; it is the whole point. If you hit the weekly limits and you also use Gemini for other things, Google AI Pro at $19.99 is a sensible step. Ultra only makes sense for full-time developers.Run the 14-day trial on a busy repository and see how many credits a normal week uses before you pick a credit pack. Talk to sales only if you need SSO or on-premise hosting.

Pros and cons

AttributeClaude CodeGoogle AntigravityQodo
Pros
  • Finishes real tasks end to end, not just suggestions you have to apply
  • Best-in-class at understanding a whole codebase before it changes anything
  • Runs in the terminal, desktop app, web, phone and the main editors
  • CLAUDE.md, Skills and MCPs make it fit your way of working
  • One Claude subscription covers both chat and coding
  • Free tier is good enough for real projects
  • Agent manager and verification artifacts make reviewing AI work easier
  • Browser agent tests your app, not just the code
  • Included with Google AI Pro, which many people already pay for
  • Reviews use context from the wider codebase, not just the diff
  • Custom rules applied across every repository
  • Supports all the major Git platforms
  • Enterprise hosting options, including on-premise
Cons
  • No free tier, and the Pro usage cap can run out in an afternoon of heavy work
  • The terminal is intimidating for non-developers at first
  • It will happily change things you did not ask about unless you set boundaries
  • Costs on Max or the API add up fast for teams
  • Anthropic cut weekly Claude Code limits by about 17% on 14 September, and limits may shift again
  • Free limits have been cut before and could change again
  • Capacity errors at busy times on the free tier
  • Tied to Gemini models, so you cannot bring Claude or OpenAI
  • The product has been renamed and reorganised more than once this year
  • No free plan any more, only a 14-day trial
  • Credit-based pricing makes cost per review uneven and harder to budget
  • Some comments are noise until you tune your rules
  • Product and plan names have changed several times, which makes older reviews confusing
