Video interviews, AI interviewing and skills assessments for hiring at scale.

Paradox
Olivia, a chat assistant that screens and books interviews for high-volume hiring.
Quick take
- The go-to chat assistant for hourly hiring: Olivia screens applicants by text and books interviews into managers' calendars.
- Now owned by Workday (deal closed October 2025), but still sold to companies using other HR systems.
- Its biggest win is speed: applicants get answers and interview times in minutes, not days.
- In 2025 a test account with the password 123456 exposed McDonald's applicant chats. Ask hard questions about security.
- No public pricing. Packages differ for enterprise, mid-sized and franchise buyers.
What is Paradox?
Paradox makes Olivia, an AI assistant that talks to job applicants by text, web chat or WhatsApp. It answers their questions, asks screening questions, books interviews straight into managers' calendars, sends reminders and starts onboarding. Paradox also sells a mobile-first applicant tracking system for frontline jobs, career sites, hiring events and CRM. Workday bought Paradox for about US$1 billion in October 2025, but it still sells to companies on other HR systems, including SAP SuccessFactors.
Pick Paradox if you hire lots of hourly staff, such as restaurants, retail, franchises, warehouses or healthcare, and the bottleneck is scheduling interviews and getting back to applicants fast. Customers include Chipotle, 7-Eleven and Wendy's. HireVue suits structured video interviews and assessments for salaried and graduate roles. Eightfold suits skills-based matching across a whole workforce.
The catch: in 2025 security researchers got into McDonald's McHire site, which runs on Paradox, using a test admin account with the password 123456, exposing chat records for millions of applicants. Paradox closed it within hours, but ask about security controls. There is no public pricing, some reviewers report poor customer service, and its analytics are described as basic.
