Shopify Dev MCP

Gives Claude Shopify's developer docs and schemas so it builds store apps correctly.

What is it?

Shopify's APIs are large and change often, which is where AI-written store code usually goes wrong. This official server gives Claude the current docs and schemas, and a way to validate its queries and theme code against them.

It runs locally and needs no login, because it reads documentation rather than your store. If you want Claude managing products and orders in a live store, pair it with Shopify's CLI, which this server works alongside.

What Claude can do once it's connected

  • Search Shopify's developer documentation
  • Look up the exact shape of Shopify's APIs
  • Check a GraphQL query or Liquid template is valid before using it
  • Get guidance on building apps, themes and extensions

Install in Claude Code

Open your terminal in the project folder and run:

Command
claude mcp add --transport stdio shopify-dev-mcp -- npx -y @shopify/dev-mcp@latest
