Which plan to pickStart on Pro. It is enough to build a small site or tool in evenings and weekends. If you hit the limit most days, Max 5x is the next step; it costs five times as much but usually works out cheaper than paying for the API directly. Max also lets you spend up to half your weekly limit on Fable, which Pro only gets through paid credits. If you are on the old $20 Pro plan and it covers what you use, stay put; switching is permanent. New customers should skip Plus unless they are happy with Grok. Premium is the realistic starting point if you want Claude, and budget for the extra usage billing on top of the $30. Large companies can ask about a custom Enterprise plan.Run the 14-day trial on a busy repository and see how many credits a normal week uses before you pick a credit pack. Talk to sales only if you need SSO or on-premise hosting.

Pros and cons

AttributeClaude CodeCursorQodo
Pros
  • Finishes real tasks end to end, not just suggestions you have to apply
  • Best-in-class at understanding a whole codebase before it changes anything
  • Runs in the terminal, desktop app, web, phone and the main editors
  • CLAUDE.md, Skills and MCPs make it fit your way of working
  • One Claude subscription covers both chat and coding
  • The clearest view of what an AI is doing to your code
  • Autocomplete is still the best in the category
  • Feels familiar instantly if you have used VS Code
  • Cloud agents and code review on the mid plans
  • Reviews use context from the wider codebase, not just the diff
  • Custom rules applied across every repository
  • Supports all the major Git platforms
  • Enterprise hosting options, including on-premise
Cons
  • No free tier, and the Pro usage cap can run out in an afternoon of heavy work
  • The terminal is intimidating for non-developers at first
  • It will happily change things you did not ask about unless you set boundaries
  • Costs on Max or the API add up fast for teams
  • Anthropic cut weekly Claude Code limits by about 17% on 14 September, and limits may shift again
  • Cheap plans only give you Grok models
  • Claude usage is billed on top of the subscription at API prices, so the real cost is hard to predict
  • OpenAI models are due to leave Cursor, which narrows the model choice
  • You now buy it bundled with Grok and X Premium, whether you want them or not
  • Agent runs are less thorough than Claude Code on big tasks
  • No free plan any more, only a 14-day trial
  • Credit-based pricing makes cost per review uneven and harder to budget
  • Some comments are noise until you tune your rules
  • Product and plan names have changed several times, which makes older reviews confusing
