What is it?

Elicit is for systematic reading of research. Ask a question and it finds relevant papers, then builds a table where each row is a paper and each column is something you asked for: sample size, method, main finding. It extracts the answers from the full text.

Where Consensus gives you a quick yes-or-no feel, Elicit is for going deep: screening hundreds of papers against your criteria and producing a review you could defend. It can also chat with a single paper.

It's built for academic and clinical research. Marketers will mostly want Consensus or Perplexity instead.

Who it's for

Researchers, students and analysts who need to review a lot of papers carefully.

Best for

  • Literature reviews
  • Extracting data from papers
  • Screening papers by criteria
  • Comparing studies in a table

Why it made the list
