Claude-Mem

Gives Claude Code a memory, so each new session starts knowing what happened before.

What is it?

By default Claude Code forgets everything when you close a session. Claude-Mem quietly records what Claude did and learned as it works, compresses it into short summaries, and loads the relevant ones back in next time. You can also search your project history in plain language.

Without it, you re-explain your project every morning. With it, Claude picks up where it left off and can tell you why a decision was made weeks ago.

It runs a small background service and, by default, the installer invites you to sign in to a hosted option. You can keep everything local by choosing your own provider at install.

Install in Claude Code

In Claude Code run /plugin marketplace add thedotmack/claude-mem, then /plugin install claude-mem@thedotmack, then restart Claude Code. Or run npx claude-mem install in a terminal, which sets everything up and asks you to pick where summaries are generated.
