Which plan to pickPro is the sweet spot for an individual: cheap, unlimited autocomplete and enough credits for a few agent tasks a week. Only move to Pro+ if you find yourself buying extra credits every month.Start on the free Individual tier; it is the whole point. If you hit the weekly limits and you also use Gemini for other things, Google AI Pro at $19.99 is a sensible step. Ultra only makes sense for full-time developers. If you already have ChatGPT Plus, you have Codex: just try it. If you are choosing between this and Claude Code with no existing subscription, Plus at $20 and Claude Pro at $20 cost the same, so pick whichever chat assistant you prefer. If you outgrow Plus, Pro starts at $100 and has no five-hour limit for now. The $200 tier gives new subscribers less usage than it used to, and Ultrafast mode is only on the $500 tier.

Pros and cons

AttributeGitHub CopilotGoogle AntigravityOpenAI Codex
Pros
  • The cheapest paid plan in the category with unlimited autocomplete
  • Works inside the editors and the GitHub site you already use
  • Agent and code review are built into the GitHub workflow
  • Enterprise controls are mature because GitHub already had them
  • Free tier is good enough for real projects
  • Agent manager and verification artifacts make reviewing AI work easier
  • Browser agent tests your app, not just the code
  • Included with Google AI Pro, which many people already pay for
  • Included with every ChatGPT plan, so many people already have it

Cons
  • Agent quality lags Claude Code and Codex on complex tasks
  • $10 of credits a month disappears quickly once you use agents
  • Pretty pointless if your code is not on GitHub
  • Business and Enterprise prices are not published
  • Free limits have been cut before and could change again
  • Capacity errors at busy times on the free tier
  • Tied to Gemini models, so you cannot bring Claude or OpenAI
  • The product has been renamed and reorganised more than once this year
  • Five-hour and weekly limits bite on Plus if you use it seriously
  • Cloud tasks use more of your allowance than local ones
  • It asks fewer questions than Claude Code before changing things
  • Model names and limits change often, which makes it hard to plan costs
  • The $200 Pro tier now gives new subscribers less usage than before
