Which plan to pickStart on Pro. It is enough to build a small site or tool in evenings and weekends. If you hit the limit most days, Max 5x is the next step; it costs five times as much but usually works out cheaper than paying for the API directly. Max also lets you spend up to half your weekly limit on Fable, which Pro only gets through paid credits.Start with the 14-day trial. Essentials is enough for most small teams; you only pay for developers who open pull requests. Turn on usage-based reviews ($0.25 a file) with a monthly cap if you keep hitting the hourly limit.Try Pro for a month to see if the agents suit your codebase. If you want Droids working in the background while you do other things, you need Plus.

Cons

  • The terminal is intimidating for non-developers at first
  • It will happily change things you did not ask about unless you set boundaries
  • Costs on Max or the API add up fast for teams
  • Anthropic cut weekly Claude Code limits by about 17% on 14 September, and limits may shift again

  • Per-developer pricing adds up for bigger teams
  • Some users report billing mistakes, refund trouble and slow support
  • Rolling usage limits make monthly cost hard to predict, and premium models eat them fast
  • Background cloud agents need the $100 plan
  • Less transparent about what context it's using than Claude Code
  • Only useful if you have developers to review its work
