Which plan to pickStart on Pro. It is enough to build a small site or tool in evenings and weekends. If you hit the limit most days, Max 5x is the next step; it costs five times as much but usually works out cheaper than paying for the API directly. Max also lets you spend up to half your weekly limit on Fable, which Pro only gets through paid credits.Start with the 14-day trial. Essentials is enough for most small teams; you only pay for developers who open pull requests. Turn on usage-based reviews ($0.25 a file) with a monthly cap if you keep hitting the hourly limit.Pro at $20 is the place to start, and it is the only sensible way to try the cloud agent. Watch your quota for the first fortnight, and use cheaper models for routine jobs before deciding whether Max or Teams is worth it.

Pros and cons

AttributeClaude CodeCodeRabbitDevin
Pros
  • Finishes real tasks end to end, not just suggestions you have to apply
  • Best-in-class at understanding a whole codebase before it changes anything
  • Runs in the terminal, desktop app, web, phone and the main editors
  • CLAUDE.md, Skills and MCPs make it fit your way of working
  • One Claude subscription covers both chat and coding
  • Set up in minutes and reviews every pull request automatically
  • Catches real bugs, including ones the coding agent missed
  • Works with any coding agent or editor
  • Free for open-source projects
  • Learns your preferences when you reply to it
  • Truly hands-off: it works in the background and returns a pull request
  • Editor, cloud agent, terminal and code review on one subscription
  • Picks up tasks from Slack, Teams, Linear and Jira
  • Wide model choice, including cheap open models and its own SWE-2
  • New frontier models usually arrive within days of launch
Cons
  • No free tier, and the Pro usage cap can run out in an afternoon of heavy work
  • The terminal is intimidating for non-developers at first
  • It will happily change things you did not ask about unless you set boundaries
  • Costs on Max or the API add up fast for teams
  • Anthropic cut weekly Claude Code limits by about 17% on 14 September, and limits may shift again
  • Marketed as unlimited, but hourly caps and fair-use throttling frustrate heavy users
  • Can be noisy, with nitpicks mixed in with real problems
  • Per-developer pricing adds up for bigger teams
  • Some users report billing mistakes, refund trouble and slow support
  • Success drops sharply on vague or complex tasks, so a developer still has to review everything
  • The daily and weekly quota is opaque, and good models can use a day's allowance in minutes
  • The free SWE-2 model, a big reason people subscribe, goes back to paid use after 1 November 2026
  • Users report slow support, including over unexpected on-demand charges
  • The Windsurf-to-Devin switch left gaps between the desktop and cloud versions, and some leftover clutter
