Which plan to pickUse Free until you find yourself fighting it, usually over the brand kit or background removal. Pro pays for itself the first time you skip a stock photo subscription. Business only makes sense once two or more people are working in the same brand.Start with the free credits on a real job. If you retouch a few hundred photos a month, Basic Plus brings each photo to well under 10 cents. Pay as you go suits occasional work but costs two to three times as much per photo. Remember credits are lost if you let a yearly plan lapse for more than 30 days.Top up $10 to $20 of Playground credits and you will get a couple of hundred standard images. If you already pay for Krea, Magnific or Leonardo, try FLUX there first. Only look at open weights or a self-hosting licence if you have a developer and a reason to run it yourself.

Pros and cons

AttributeCanvaEvoto AIFLUX
Pros
  • Nobody needs training to use it
  • The free plan is big enough to run a small business on
  • Brand Kit and Magic Resize save hours every week
  • Covers decks, documents and simple video as well as graphics
  • Works with Claude, so designs can start from a chat
  • Cuts portrait retouching time dramatically when you have many faces to fix
  • Fine slider control, so results can look natural
  • Glasses glare and backdrop cleanup save reshoots
  • You only pay for edited photos you export, and re-exports are free
  • Fast, regular updates with culling and video added in 2025 and 2026

  • Open models you can run privately on your own PC
  • Built into many apps you may already use
  • Same price in the Playground and the API
Cons
  • Template designs can look generic unless you customise them
  • Fine control over type and layout is limited next to Figma or Adobe
  • Built-in image generation is a step behind the dedicated generators
  • AI features burn through credits faster than you expect on Free
  • Paying per exported photo adds up for high-volume photographers
  • Credit expiry and renewal rules confuse people, and some report surprise charges and slow support
  • Account and licence glitches sometimes lock paying users out until support steps in
  • Weaker raw editing and colour than Lightroom, so you usually still need both
  • Culling and batch results still need checking image by image
  • The Playground is a developer test bench, not a friendly design app
  • Licences are confusing: some open models are non-commercial
  • Strict filters, and users say the open models are weak at people
  • 4K images are expensive at about 61 cents each
  • Reviews of the small Klein model are mixed
