Hookify

Turns "never do that again" into a rule Claude Code checks before every action.

What is it?

Hooks are checks Claude Code runs automatically before or after it does something. They're powerful but normally mean editing a settings file by hand. Hookify lets you describe the rule in your own words and writes it for you as a small, readable file.

Each rule either warns or blocks. You can say "warn me when you use console.log" or "block rm -rf commands". Run /hookify with nothing after it and it looks back over the conversation for things you corrected and offers to turn them into rules. New rules work straight away, with no restart.

Writing "don't do this" in CLAUDE.md is a request Claude can forget. A hook is checked every time.

Install in Claude Code

In Claude Code run /plugin install hookify@claude-plugins-official. Then type /hookify followed by the rule you want, or just /hookify to have it suggest rules from the current conversation. /hookify:list shows your rules.

Try this prompt

Paste into Claude Code
/hookify Warn me before you edit any .env file, and block any command that deletes a folder.

Who it's for

Anyone tired of correcting Claude Code for the same thing twice.

Best for

  • Protecting secret files
  • Blocking risky commands
  • Enforcing project habits
  • Turning corrections into rules

Why it made the list

It makes hooks, one of Claude Code's most useful features, usable without touching a config file.
