Google Search Console MCP

Lets Claude analyse your Google search clicks, rankings and indexing problems.

What is it?

Google Search Console shows how your site does in Google search, but the reports are fiddly. This community server lets Claude run them for you: "which pages lost clicks this month?", "what searches is the pricing page showing up for?" or "are my new blog posts indexed?"

Setup is the hard part. You make an OAuth client in a free Google Cloud project with the Search Console API switched on, save its file, and put that file's path in the command below. It needs uv installed. The first run opens Google sign-in in your browser.

Adding or removing sites and deleting sitemaps is off unless you set GSC_ALLOW_DESTRUCTIVE=true, so it's safe to explore. Google hasn't released its own Search Console server, and this is the most-used community one.

What Claude can do once it's connected

  • Show which searches bring people to your site, with clicks, impressions and position
  • Compare two periods and explain what went up or down
  • Check whether pages are indexed and when Google last crawled them
  • Find the searches behind a single page
  • List, submit and check sitemaps

Install in Claude Code

Open your terminal (the text window where you run Claude Code) in your project folder, then paste this command to connect it:

Command
claude mcp add gsc -e GSC_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRETS_FILE=/full/path/to/client_secrets.json -- uvx mcp-search-console

Or add this to your project's .mcp.json:

.mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "gsc": {
      "command": "uvx",
      "args": ["mcp-search-console"],
      "env": {
        "GSC_OAUTH_CLIENT_SECRETS_FILE": "/full/path/to/client_secrets.json"
      }
    }
  }
}

The first time you use it, you'll be asked to sign in or paste an API key (a private code from the app that lets Claude use your account).
