What is it?

An MCP server is the standard way to give Claude hands inside another app, such as your CRM, booking system or accounting software. This skill is Anthropic's guide to building one well: research the service first, design tools around real tasks rather than raw endpoints, then test them the way Claude will use them.

Without it, Claude can produce a connector that technically works but is awkward for it to use. With it, the connector is designed from Claude's point of view, which is what makes it useful in practice.

This is a technical job. You will need developer access to the service you are connecting.

Install in Claude Code

In Claude Code run /plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills, then /plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skills. That bundle includes this skill alongside Anthropic's other example skills.
