Google Workspace CLI

A command-line tool for every Google Workspace service, published under the googleworkspace organisation on GitHub, with more than 100 skills: one for each service plus about 50 ready-made recipes for Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar and Sheets. Claude can then search your inbox, file documents, build spreadsheets and book meetings itself.

Setup is the hard part. You create a Google Cloud project and sign in once, which takes ten to fifteen minutes and is easiest for someone comfortable in a terminal. Every command has a dry-run mode to preview changes first.

It's labelled as not an officially supported Google product, so there's no Google support line if something breaks.

Install the gws tool with npm install -g @googleworkspace/cli (or brew install googleworkspace-cli on a Mac). Run gws auth setup, which walks you through creating a Google Cloud project, then gws auth login. Add all the skills with npx skills add https://github.com/googleworkspace/cli, or only the ones you need, e.g. npx skills add https://github.com/googleworkspace/cli/tree/main/skills/gws-gmail.
