Which plan to pickDon't start here for a weekend project; Neon or Supabase are free. When a product has paying customers, the $15 high-availability Postgres is the sensible entry point. Only go to Metal once Insights shows the disk is the slow part.Build on Free. Switch to Pro the day you share the app with anyone outside your team, mostly so the project stops pausing. Team is a big jump that only makes sense once a client or auditor asks for SSO or a SOC 2 report.Build everything on Free, where the only real limit is the API rate cap. Essential is the plan you launch on. Pro only earns its keep if you're an agency running several client backends in one account.

Cons
  • No free plan

  • Only the database; no auth, storage or functions
  • Overkill for anything that isn't live with paying users
  • Free projects pause after a week of inactivity
  • Usage charges on Pro can be hard to predict as traffic grows
  • Access rules and SQL still take some learning for non-technical people

  • Free plan rate limits make it unusable for anything live
  • Visual logic gets hard to follow once it grows
  • Your logic lives in Xano's format, so moving off it means rebuilding
